Front plate

The identification of the plate gives some important datas:

1. the state (Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, Wurttemberg …. )
2. the type of unit (infantry/artillery/train, jager/light infantry, pioneer, dragoon, jager zu pferde/light cavalry, ulan, curassier, etc)
3. the rank (officer, Non commissioned officer/NCO, enlisted man/other ranks)
4. the status of the unit (active, reserve, second reserve/landwehr)

Use Give a look at the slideshow, the first part shows the Prussian plates, featuring an eagle or the “Suum cuique” motto, the second part shows the plates from the other states.
